Orient (Leyton) FC - Remembering the 80's

As if we want to remember part of it. We didn't realise how good the 70's were until we hit the 80's.

The O's continued in Division Two having overcome a couple of close shaves in the late 70's. but it was only a matter of time before we were to witness the inevitable relegation.
With the introduction of 3 points for a Win and the O's being known as the draw specialist this became the downfall as the O's finished bottom of Division Two in Season 1981-1982 with just 39 points having sealed their fate with three games to go.

Stayed in Division 3 for three seasons before a further relegation in 1984-1985.

In July 1987 the Club reverted back to their former name of LEYTON ORIENT FOOTBALL CLUB.

Division 4 was quite entertaining never being lower than 8th before we achieved Promotion via the Play-offs in 1988-1989.

By the 90's we were back in Division 3.

And so the PLAYER OF THE YEAR continued and we have a list of recent Legends on show. Actually not so recent as we are talking twenty years plus but these Players will also live in memory.
