GOING HOME: Canada St. LAKE GEORGE NY in the 1940s-1960s

The older I become, the more I treasure memories from my early and "growing-up" years. I was born in Glens Falls 67 years ago and came home to Lake George on the Bloody Pond Rd. My roots were strong as my ancestors came from Scotland and settled on "Top of The World". Like everyone from Lake George, I have watched the changing "borders" of Canada St. through the years. Especially from the 40's through the 60's . I can bring back some of the old homes (such as Malcolm's big home) and store's ( Lange's, Sullivan's drug stores, Wilcox's) in my mind's eye. I'm sure there must be alot of photos out there.

I have been away from the area about 40 years. My husband and I returned and built our home. I have visited Lake George many times during these years to visit family and friends. I always look through the local book selections for a book such as I have described. There are many books out there on the" resort side" of Lake George and the mansions, but wouldn't it be great to see our whole main st., Canada St. through the years?
