Eliminate the City of Norwich Fire Tax Proposal!

This group was formed to inform Taxpayers in the Town Consolidated District on 2 proposals before the Norwich City Council:

1. To combine costs of paid and volunteer fire service.
2. To include them both as part of the general fund for the entire city.

This is an attempt by Mayor Hinchey, Councilwomen Sofee Noblick, and Fire Chief Kenneth Scandariato to unfairly tax the TCD for additional funding intended to expand the Norwich Fire Department without providing it as a service to districts served by the 5 Volunteer Fire Departments.

The Town Consolidated District is protected by the Taftville, Yantic, Occum, East Great Plains, and Laurel Hill Volunteer Fire Departments. These departments protect the Town, 24 square miles, with a total operating expense of $552,396.(FY 2013)

The City Consolidated District is protected by the Norwich Fire Department, 3.5 square miles, with a total operating expense of $9,072,634. (FY 2013)
