HILL 60, YPRES, BELGIUM WW1 WW2 SITE

Hill 60, near Ypres, Belgium.

The whole area is a vast WW1 cemetery. Thousands of soldiers still lie beneath Hill 60.

It is an important site in WW1 and WW2 history. 7 Victoria Crosses were won at Hill 60.

There are an estimated 75 tons of high explosive buried underground in this area, left undetonated from mining missions beneath enemy lines during WW1.

This group aims to provide information for education and research (please check our photos), as well as awareness for preserving the Hill 60 area for future generations.

This site is dedicated to my Grandfather Richard Alcock a WW1 veteran who fought in this area in 1918. His photo is in the gallery. RIP.

PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME TO LOOK THROUGH THE PHOTO GALLERY, AND READ ABOUT HILL 60 AND THE MEN WHO SERVED THERE.
