Madison Alana Doreen Gilbert GOSH Brighter Future Fund

We have set up a page to show how we are going with fundraising for Madison's Brighter Future Fund. I will update regularly to show what we have done and what we will be doing to raise money for GOSH.

Here's our story:

This page has been set up in memory of our Daughter Madison Alana Doreen Gilbert who sadly passed away on the 19th Nov 2013 in Great Ormond Street Hospital.

At six weeks old, we were told that Madison's head was too big and when they scanned her at 8 weeks our local hospital found that she had a Brain Tumour, Medulloblastoma. Madison was transfered to GOSH where she had her tumour removed when she was just 9 weeks old. She came out of that surgery and recovered well, the fluid was still building up in her head and 2 days later she had another operation to fit a shunt in her head to relieve the pressure. Madison amazed us again as she recovered well and was back to her smiling self.

We were told a week later that Madison's tumour was cancerous and she needed Chemotheraphy. We were given a good outcome and we were very hopeful that she would pull through this. After another operation to fit a hickman line Madison was ready for Chemo at just 12 weeks old. She coped well with her first round and that pleased us.

A few days after Madison's Chemo she got a high temperature and had to be taken in to our local hospital. Madison was getting worse and was transferred back to GOSH. After a night in GOSH we were taken down into intensive care where Madison was having trouble with her breathing. She had a serve chest infection. Madison's condition got worse and she was on a ventilator. After 4 weeks of trying to fight this infection, her little body got tired and Madison passed away peacefully in our arms. She was a beautiful little girl up to the end and was able to have her much loved cuddles when she left us.

We have decided to set up this page so that anyone can give money to the hospital in Madison's memory. GOSH saved our daughters life a number of times and even though her life was short, we will always remember the amazing work, care and support that the hospital gave us and Madison during our difficult times.

We have put Madison's Brighter Future Fund on just giving page link on the top of the page.
