COR in Trinidad & Tobago

A weekend retreat for young person's between the ages of 17 and 21. "A true encounter with Christ!"

In January 1980 the first COR weekend was held in the lush green area of the Lopinot Valley. On the evening of 22nd January, 1980, a new family – the COR family - was born. Bro. Ron together with Sr. Therese Dookeran O.P. continued conducting this programme in many parishes in Trinidad and Tobago. Providentially, that same year, Sr. Therese was appointed Archdiocesan Youth Coordinator, and offered the COR experience as one of the youth programmes.

June 1981 saw our first COR missionary team moving into Grenada at the request of Sr. Genevieve Baptiste SJC the then principal of St. Joseph Convent Grenville, to conduct the first COR weekend there in the midst of the revolution. This was only the beginning of such missionary work to other Caribbean nations by a Caribbean team of young missionaries. One by one, members from new islands committed themselves to carry the Good News to other young people through the COR weekend experience programme and adapted it to suit Caribbean needs.

Succeeding Archdiocesan Youth Coordinators continued this beautiful work for the youths over the years and COR continued to energize the young and the not so young to deepen their love and commitment to be active witnesses of Christ in their parishes, families and the wider society. Many of the earlier COR participants are now parents of children who are eligible to enroll for a weekend, and they are anxiously hoping that this special experience could be their children’s as well.
