Cameron Newton for Heisman

Cameron Newton is a great candidate for the Heisman trophy. For the 2010 recruiting season, Newton was ranked the #1 QB from either high school or junior college by Rivals.com, and he was their only 5-star QB recruit. In 2007, as a freshman, Newton earned the spot over other freshman quarterback John Brantley, as the back up for Tebow. In 2008, During his sophomore season, Newton played in the season opener against Hawaii, then agreed to take a redshirt season. In January 2009, Newton transferred to Blinn college and that fall, led his team to the NJCAA National Football Championship.On December 31, 2009, Newton announced he would attend Auburn in January of 2010. Newton started the first game of Auburn's season, a home victory over Arkansas State on September 4, 2010. Newton accounted for 5 total offensive touchdowns and over 350 yards of total offense. He was named FBS National Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards for week 1, as well as SEC Offensive Player of the Week.Ever since then, Newton has been playing his hear out,and is a worthy candidate for the Heisman trophy!
