Cardiff University Broadway Dance Society

Welcome to Broadway Dance Society, the only dance society at Cardiff University to offer lessons on Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Street, Irish and High Kick at levels ranging from Beginners to Advanced. We cater for everyone at Broadway.

Our beginner classes are structured for people who have little to no dance experience, intermediate classes offer a level of dance for those who may be picking up again after a break from dance lessons while advanced classes are designed for people who have a lot of dance experience.

Membership of Broadway Dance is £10 per academic year (plus the £4 guild fee); weekly lessons are then £2 for members. You do not have to be a member of Broadway to come along and take part in our classes, but the weekly lesson fee is £4 for non-members. Non-students are also welcome to join Broadway or just come along to lessons.

Our lessons work towards our annual showcase, which will be held on the 20th and 21st March 2015 and we have decided on a theme of songs from around the world! We will also be offering chances to perform on several other occasions; in University events such as ‘Go Global’ and ‘Fringe Festival’ alongside varsity with Swansea University. We are looking to hold our first competition in Cardiff this year too!

On Thursday 2nd October we will be holding an Open Evening, containing a variety of Give it a Go sessions for each style of dance which will be offered at just £2 for the entire evening. This will be a good chance to discover new styles of dance and to meet the committee and teachers, and decide which classes are best suited to you.

As well as coming along to lessons, Broadway is a brilliant social opportunity, where you can meet like-minded students. We hold regular Broadway socials, which vary in nature from themed nights out to dance workshops, theatre trips and DVD nights! Come along to our first social of the year on Friday 3rd October; details coming very soon! We also have a trip to see Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies in October, and a Burlesque workshop in November planned so far.

We look forward to welcoming you into our society and meeting you very soon! Any questions, please contact one of the committee:
