First Montrose Commons Neighborhood Association

First Montrose Commons is a neighborhood located in the Neartown district of Houston, Texas. First Montrose Commons is bordered by Montrose Blvd, Richmond Ave, West Alabama St, and Spur 527. The neighborhood adjoins the University of St. Thomas and is within walking distance of the MetroRail Red Line.

Our neighborhood is part of Montrose, a Houston community which is rich in history, arts, and entertainment. We are also minutes away from Houston's Downtown District, Midtown District, Museum District, Memorial Park, Greenway Plaza, Hermann Park, Rice University, and the Texas Medical Center.

Our neighborhood association was established in 1994 to protect and enrich First Montrose Commons by encouraging neighborhood pride, communication, advocacy, and vigilance. The association typically meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.. Most meetings are held at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Among the association’s many functions is the production of its newsletter, On Common Ground, which is distributed to neighborhood residents on a monthly basis. The association also organizes neighborhood events, including National Night Out and an annual holiday party. Association dues are only $10 a year per person, and commercial memberships are also available for local businesses that wish to support First Montrose Commons.
