Fujifilm Velvia 50

Velvia film is often spoken about in terms of its punchy contrast and saturated colour characteristics. Yet, I am always amazed at the soft subtile colours and tones we can get out of this film. Velvia is not the sledge hammer some say it is.
Shooting straight into the sun is also amazing. This image is not only a credit to the Mamiya 7II 80mm lens used, it is also a wonderful example of the flexibility which Velvia can offer the photographer.
Tim Parkin speaks of how "film rolls off the highlights" and how beautiful that looks. I think it is very true.
It's difficult to see the detail in this low res jpeg, yet the soft subtile and delicate detail holds. Smooth and velvety. Very organic. 'Bilgola Ocean Pool' / 2013
