Nottingham Forest Fires FC

Match report 2/5/13 Fires vs A.F.C Didcot The Forest fires pulled off a defiant second half performance to claim the points against A.F.C Didcot on Thursday evening. Having initially gone 1-0 down through a slight defensive error the fires were level within a few minutes of the restart. A ball cut back off the right wing by Scott Leader fell straight at the feet of Gaz Palmer who thumped the ball into the net. Fires then took the lead just before the half time whistle, after a great individual run by Joe Chedzey, he turned passed his marker and found space to slot the ball neatly out of the keepers reach. Going into the second half Fires maintained strong possession of the ball and were rarely threatened into making any forced mistakes, passing was smooth, fluid and it wasn't long until the space was made available for Anthony Knott to score the first of his three goals. Square on with the goal he had no trouble in dragging the ball across under the goal keeper to extend the fires lead to 3-1. His second half masterclass wasn't finished there as soon after Ant was given space down the left wing, his vicious strike had both the power and accuracy to beat the keeper at the near post and give fires a commanding 4-1 lead. It wasn't all one way traffic however and as the 2nd half drove on A.F.C finally got the better of fires keeper Dan Peters who had pulled off some spectacular saves throughout the evening, a slip through the middle of the forest defense and Peters' was unlucky to see the ball fizz off his glove and squirm it's way into the bottom corner. Dan did well commanding the area and smothering any balls the came remotley close to ensure fires maintained the lead, however A.F.C scored thier 3rd goal of the evening, once again evading tackles from the fires defense to edge the score closer at 4-3. A last ditch block tackle by Ryan Hill deflected what was surely a goal bound effort from A.F.C to keep the fires slender lead, and in the dying minutes Ant once again found space and drove the ball into the bottom left corner of the net passed the stranded A.F.C keeper who just watched helplessly as the ball went passed him to secure the points and earn the MOTM. Final Score NFFFC 5 - 3 A.F.C DIDCOT attend. 1
