Celtic Cup

Welcome to the Celtic Cup Golf Society. We are a society based from Redditch, Worcestershire. We were founded from a Birthday weekend away with 16 of us who went to The Celtic Manor, Wales. We arranged a prize fund and sponsorship to make the most of the competition. Due to the huge success of the event we then arranged for a weekend at the Vale, Glamorgan which again proved a complete success attracting 20 players. With this in mind we then arranged the Celtic Cup Challenge 2011 which was held at De Vere Belton Woods, Grantham, Lincolnshire. We attracted over £500 in sponsorship from local companies. There were 28 players who participated in this event.

The society has members from all over the country with teams travelling from Norfolk, Kent, Middlesex, Yorkshire and the Midlands. We have a strong mix of characters who excel in the 19th Hole and find the golf a distraction, say no names!

The society is now going from strength to strength and we predict that we will have 40 players for the 2012 tournament. We now have regular sponsors, a website and tournament structure that includes individual scores andprizes in the quest for the MJ Memorial Trophy in memory of Marty Trainor.

The "piece de la resistance" is the Celtic Challenge Cup, a team format based loosely on the Ryder Cup but with two team captains who oversee their teams, The Fore Skins and The Ball Bags!!!
