York University Clay Pigeon Shooting Club

Clay pigeon shooting at York university.

We meet every Wednesday and Saturday outside the sports centre at 13.15 and 10:30 respectively. We drive to a shooting ground (Park Lodge) and are generally back on campus by 17.00 on wednesdays and 15:00 on Saturdays Often heading to the Deramore Pub in Heslington village.

During weeks 1-5 of the autumn term all abilities are welcome to Wednesday and Saturday shoots. The two shoots will then be split into one beginners and one BUCs team practice - which way round that will be may well change weekly to accommodate everyone.

We will also be holding further competitions throughout the year including the York cup and Roses.

We're currently recruiting more and more women, hoping to have a women's team ready for BUCS this term. Don't be put off thinking this is a male sport - it suits everyone!

We will be shooting every Wednesday and Saturday for the special price of £13.00 for a single day and 25 clays. This price will include an experienced member of the club providing their expertise to help get the best from your shooting experience. If you have shot before you might wish to shoot more clays (50) at the regular price of £22.00. You are more than welcome to come along on both shoots to see how you like it before paying membership. Membership is a mere £10 per year.

This price include:
- transport to the ground
- gun hire for the session
- all clays
- all cartridges

We also aim to have bi-weekly socials - more than most clubs on campus. These range from big nights out, always good and almost always ending up in Willow, to cinema trips, chilled nights in with films and (drinking/normal) games, and meals out in town. Not forgetting a trip to Betty's for afternoon tea and a port and cheese evening to be held at the Vice Presidents house.

As said, we're a small friendly club and it's very easy to get involved in the running of the club as well as the shooting. If you have any questions, you can leave a note on the wall, message one of the committee members or email us at shooting@yusu.org.

So why not come and have a go?!
