Code of Conduct

Hello Everyone,
We hope that you have enjoyed the videos, photos and discussions that have been brought to you by our Facebook Community. We want to ensure that the environment fostered here is as productive and encouraging as possible, in the hopes that we may present a balanced, honest, and enlightening resource to our next generation who are often faced with slanted images about Ethiopia which are filled with misinformation about who they are and where they have come from.

The purpose of this group is to provide a learning experience and information about HIM and his work thus giving a legacy and knowledge for the youth and others.

In the interest of promoting constructive dialog between members of our community, we have adopted certain core values that we hope to inform our conversations. It is our belief that everyone in our community has a stake or interest in the subjects that we discuss and in the interest of a balanced and open exchange of information on this critical period of our not so distant past, we will encourage that our dialogs encourage these 5 core values.

~ Truth
In pursuit of balanced conversations, we encourage dialogs to be based on both personal experience and verifiable information.

~ Perspective
We respect that a variety of perspectives may exist on any given topic. We encourage all points of view, however we do ask that we send and receive our comments bearing in mind that everyone has a different perspective on history and historic figures. There is no one perspective that is universally shared by all, and so we ask that all posters hold themselves to high standards of transparency and acceptance of others, despite whatever difference of opinions may exist.

~ Community
Discussions should be rooted in a conscious desire to uplift and educate the community about various aspects of Atse Haile Selassie''s impact on our nations past, present and future.

~ Harmony
We strive to maintain dialog that creates harmony, promotes community and mutual feeling of respect. Please be mindful and considerate of one another in this respect.

~ Unity
We ask that participants actively avoid creating, exaggerating or sustaining divisions within or between communities, but rather strive to create harmonious relationships between and within groups.

In order to support these values, minimum standards of dialog are in place. Those minimum standards include refraining from the following:
Derogatory Language: Including Sexist, Racist and Classist comments. As well as Name calling, or overtly disrespectful statements.
Personal Attacks on either the subject of the post and/or the poster ␣ Consistent dialog that pushes a specific agenda (be it political, social, reformist, or religious)
Divulging personal information about others

While we deeply appreciate and encourage members to post their views it is important for everyone to know that this group is non political and can not be used to endorse one particular person or promote one particular section of the HIM royal family. So we would ask that members refrain from making any comments or posts that are targeted to a promoting a particular person or organization. Obviously, this doesn't preclude posting links, articles etc about His Imperial Majesty, Atse Haile Selassie, the royal family nor related matters. However we asking that members use this site to learn as opposed to promote or meet a specific agenda.

An ideal post would be: thoughtfully constructed contain primary source information or evidence such as a link or source, be respectful of other members, bring an interesting perspective, educate and enlighten.

In the unlikely event that these standards are violated, the poster will be respectfully reminded of the standards that our community wishes to maintain. Disregard for these standards may result in two written warnings and removal of the post and possibly the individual from the group. All decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
