Cliftonville Nostalgia

This is a group for anyone who lived in Cliftonville in the 60s and 70s, or who has an interest in the town as it was back then. Who remembers all the old shops in Northdown Road - Bobby's, Moyler's (and the Moyler's toyshop), the little sweetshops, the old-fashioned Woolworths?.....the beaches so full of people in the summer that one could hardly move, and to 'bag' a good place you'd have to get down there really early.....all the colourful beach huts along Palm Bay..... roaming the cliffs and beaches with friends from dawn to dusk during the school holidays...... the many Butlins hotels along the seafront of Walpole Bay, with the redcoats taking crowds of children to the beach and onto the lawns for various activities.....Northdown Park when the housing estate between it and the sea was still a cornfield......the Queens hotel.....the Lido swimming pool with its two rafts and the big chute......
