Friends and Former Members of OTTC (Old Town Theatre Company) Swindon

During the 20 years in which Old Town Theatre Company ran, from being set up in 1992, to folding in early 2013, we added another dimension to the drama scene in Swindon. With a particular focus on the works of contemporary playwrights, our aims were to provide a variety of entertainment that would appeal to a more adventurous theatre goer.
We were based at the Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Old Town, Swindon. We welcomed anyone interested in any aspect of the theatre, including: acting, directing, lighting, sound, set design and backstage work.

We covered a variety of activities such as: plays, workshops, film and radio productions. We also provided front of house and support work for visiting professional companies at the Arts Centre.

In addition to our annual season, we also regularly entered the Harold Jolliffe One Act Play Festival. This is the Swindon round of the All England Theatre Festival. We enjoyed great success in this competition, winning it four times in succession from 1999 to 2002, and representing England at the British National Finals in our home town in 2011!

We also provided actors to cre8 studios in Swindon. This is the borough's community training resource for video, multimedia, sound and photography.

OTTC established itself as Swindon's most ambitious and innovative theatre company.

To quote the press:

"OTTC has reached an excellence, that would be envied by long standing professionals."

Sadly, financial pressures forced us into winding up the company in March 2013, though this Facebook group remains to keep the former membership and audience in touch with one another, and perhaps one day go on to perform to paying audiences once more.
