Alpha Nu Zeta English Honor Society - Stony Brook University

Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society.

The Society strives to

- Confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies;
- Provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities;
- Foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing;
- Promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members;
- Exhibit high standards of academic excellence; and
- Serve society by fostering literacy.

There are nearly 800 chapters located worldwide, and nearly 9000 members are inducted annually.



The Alpha Nu Zeta Chapter at Stony Brook University strives for excellence in English and bettering our community through what we know best.

Our club participates in various community service events on the Stony Brook campus and around the neighborhood. We also work with different organizations to benefit children worldwide.

A few of our community service projects include:

- Better World Books Book Drives
- The Pencil Project
- Pens for Kids
- AIDS Walk
- Stony Brook's Day Care Volunteer
- Stony Brook's Veteran's Home Volunteer
