Hands off China:

• Defends the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) against imperialism and its stooges

• Supports the ‘One China’ principle and the PRC’s just stands on such issues of its vital national interest as Taiwan and Tibet

• Refutes hostile propaganda and misinformation of the capitalist media and others against the PRC

• Upholds the great revolutionary traditions of the Chinese communists, working class and people

• Supports the achievements of the Chinese people in eliminating poverty and building a strong, powerful and modernised socialist country, as well as the PRC’s contributions to realising a multi-polar and peaceful world and to the independent, anti-imperialist development of the countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America

• Supports Chinese workers, students and other members of the Chinese community in Britain in their struggles against racism and for their rights.

You can read the coverage of the launch meeting in China Daily (Chinese English Language newspaper):

and in Proletarian (paper of the CPGB-ML):

"The Chinese people have stood up!"

These were the inspiring words with which Mao Zedong greeted the founding of the New China on October 1st 1949, having led the popular anti-feudal and anti-colonial independence struggle to its victorious conclusion.

This group is for all those who want China to remain standing, striving and striding towards a peaceful and prosperous socialist future. Thankfully, China has become strong, but her enemies do not sleep and our friendship is much needed and welcomed by the Chinese people, as can be seen from the response to our launch meeting.

Hands off China is a solidarity campaign set up by the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) in 2008, in response to the growing media onslaught against the People’s Republic of China.

Those with vested interests in colonial and feudal slavery were furious that the chinese people - so great an "asset" - should have the audacity to liberate themselves. Those powers - US, UK, EU and Japanese imperialists foremost among them - still have eyes on China; they have not forgotten the luxury such colonial possessions afforded them; they would happily, given the opportunity, see the Chinese people once more in chains.

That is why their propaganda machines work ceaselessly to defame and slander China, her people and government. There is no semblance of 'objectivity' in their coverage, no sincerity in their professed love for 'human rights' - a cursory knowledge of historical fact proves this.

What the capitalist's seek, in China as elsewhere, is domination; unbridled power to exploit the Chinese masses - which, contrary to the slanders of many 'left-wing' parties and commentators, they do not possess. To this end, they seek to prepare the ground to break China's sovereignty, territorial integrity and the rule of the Chinese people's greatest organisational weapon - the Communist Party of China.

Progressive working people the world over feel differently. We welcome and applaud the strides China is making to lift hundreds of millions of our fellow workers out of poverty and see that, not withstanding all difficulties involved in a project of such magnitude, the People's Republic of China remains a great force for peace and progress throughout the world.

Long live socialist China!
