Secure the Shadows - Victorian Post Mortem Photography

Welcome to the Secure the Shadows - Victorian Postmortem Photography group.

You may have joined this group because of your interest in the subject and want to know and learn more about it. You came to the right place! There are more than 1500 members in this group and we are all allowed to give our opinions. That doesn't mean you always have to agree with one another, we only ask you to respect each other and agree to disagree when necessary. Please note that we are also a group that does NOT support the so-called 'posing stand' postmortem myth that usually does the rounds on the internet, as well as, many other non postmortems. Here are some interesting links that provide the correct info:

We welcome postmortem photos from the 19th century, as well as, from the 20th century until about the 1950's. If known, please provide a source. We also encourage posts that include mourning related items such as clothing, memorial pieces and memorial photos.

We are all adults and sometimes discussions can get heated but we do not tolerate profanity or any other bad language and behavior. Admins will remove those from the group! Please try to keep civil and nice to one another.

Please feel free to ask questions! We are proud to have members in the group that know a lot about the Victorian period when it comes to postmortem photography, Victorian mourning customs, dating photos and clothing.

Thanks from the Admin Team!
