S.C.A.M.P. Sensor Control and Management Platoon USMC

SCAMP had it's beginnings in Vietnam and is the forerunner of the modern Ground Sensor Platoon (GSP). The MOS was 8621 (operator) and 8631 (repairman). The units were assigned to Division G-2 and deployed and monitored Seismic, Acoustic, Magnetic and Infrared Sensors to detect enemy movements. These were implanted by hand, dropped from helicopters or from fixed wing aircraft.
I was assigned to 3rd SCAMP from 1984 to 1987. We trained at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. I was an 0311/8621.
