Coleraine FC Academy 2006s

Both of the Under 9s squads where in action this weekend with their final games at BallySally before the Christmas break. Under 9 Olympic v Ballymoney Minis The boys started the game well attempting to use their neat foot skills to engineer some space in a tightly crowed pitch to which they did to great effect. A battleling performance from Harvey Magee in the midfield ensured the Ballymoney side didn't have things their all their own way. In games like this its important that the players put into practice those ball manipulation techniques that they have covered in training and today it showed that with attention to detail and a solid work ethic in training those skills pay off. This young team are showing a steady progression and with a few players absent they pulled together to show great character and resilience. A massive well done to all players and also a special mention to the parent group who truly understand what the coaches are doing and are fully supportive.
‪#‎minibannsiders‬ Under 9s Academy v Portrush It was a late kick off for the Academy team this week as they faced local North West Rivals Portrush. The mini bannsiders started the game on the front foot with a great passing combination in an attack that seen all players including the goal keeper involved in the play. The ability to switch the point of attack is vital when looking to unlock your opponents and the young bannsiders awareness allowed them to do so on a number of occasions resulting in a period of heavy pressure on the Portrush goal. This was a well polished performance from the young stripes but with a few lessons still to be learnt..... A special mention to Conor Waddle for an outstanding performance who displayed calmness and intelligence beyond his years..
