American Red Cross Club at Stony Brook University

The American Red Cross Club at Stony Brook University plans on fulfilling many vital responsibilities that we, the founders of the club, believe our school has not satisfied. In response to recent natural disasters in Haiti and Chile, our organization supported by the American Red Cross Suffolk County Chapter, plans on educating the Stony Brook community in skills necessary to prepare for, prevent, and respond to disasters. We also aim to provide Red Cross educational services and outreach to the local community.

The American Red Cross Club aims to educate the Stony Brook community in skills necessary to prepare for, prevent, and respond to disasters as well as spread the principles of Humanity, Impartiality, and Unity in Voluntary Service.

Our carefully planned agenda includes:

• CPR (Adult, Child and Infant), AED, Standard First Aid and Lifeguard training for students, staff and faculty

• Organization of fundraising for disaster victims and International Red Cross endeavors

• Raising awareness regarding the Red Cross Measles campaign

• Educating the Stony Brook Community in safety, and emergency first aid skills

• General humanitarian work, ranging from Habitat from Humanity to local volunteering opportunities
