City University of Hong Kong Social Work Alumni Association (CityUSWAA)

In order to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of CityU and 20th Anniversary of Department of Applied Social Studies, a Preparation Committee for the Social Work Alumni Association has been formed on 8 January 2009. After a three year coordination with all the offices of CityU, the City University of Hong Kong Social Work Alumni Association was registered on 4 May 2012 under Societies Ordinance.

All graduates of Social Work course in CityU (including the then City Polytechnic of Hong Kong, graduates of social work courses from Department of Applied Social Studies till 1989, the then College of Higher Vocational Studies and City University Community College) are welcome.

This group will announce the past work of the Preparation Committee in the past few months and the future activities.

The Preaparation Committee is an open group. You are most welcome to join the meeting but for security proposes, the joining will be approved by one of our key members.

Aim of forming the Social Work Alumni Association

1. To link up with the graduates;

2. To promote the coherence of the graduates and create a platform for their mutual sharing in enhancing their professional growth; and

3. To serve the Department of Applied Social Studies, CHSS and Division of Social Studies, CityU CC of City University of Hong Kong for enhancing the professionalism of the social work students through graduate mentor scheme, career talks, and mock interview.

The Mission of Social Work Alumni Association (Proposed) is as follows--

1. To enhance the social and professional network of alumni and social work students;

2. To support the Department of Applied Social Studies CHSS and Division of Social Studies, CityU CC to achieve their educational mission;

3. To enrich the professional growth of social work students from college to practice;

4. To collaborate with other alumni associations and professional bodies to achieve the objectives of our association;

5. To make professional contribution to the betterment of Hong Kong community.
