New members must message the admins with the following information before they will be allowed membership: Full Name, MOS, Rank on ETS, Branch of Service, Dates in Somalia, Unit you served with in Somalia, and the base(s) or locations you operated from. You will not be allowed membership until such time as that information is received. This is a "Closed Group" exclusively for those who served in Somalia. Not for their friends, neighbors, or relatives who want to connect or provide support. Membership is a privilege, sacred and exclusively limited to those who got sand and or blood in their boots, in Somalia, no one else, no exceptions. I and the other admins will query each person requesting membership and if they weren't there they're not getting approved. Limited exceptions will be carefully reviewed, adjudicated and collectively voted on by the admins. If you didn't leave a part of your soul in Somalia you really will never understand those of us who did.
This is an international group for all allied veterans of the UNOSOM and UNOSOM II (Operations Restore and Continue Hope) Somalia Missions.
1. If you are an American Somalia Veteran chances are you were poisoned with Lariam (Melfoquine) a chemoprophylaxis for malaria. Highly recommend you join our group Veterans Against Lariam to find out what you can do and what is being done through the Veterans Administration (American) to test and mitigate this very serious medical situation. Most American Somalia Veterans took this drug weekly and are now suffering alone and are confused about strange unexplainable medical problems. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Get informed and take action and join the FB Group Veterans Against Lariam.
2. This group is about remembering, healing but not forgetting. If you are joining to condemn, curse, mock or vilify the people of Somalia, please find another group. Any postings of this nature will be deleted. Repeated offenses could result in suspension or expulsion from the group.
We are a close brother/sisterhood so please be respectful to the others. It is acceptable to disagree and argue, families often do that, but keep your comments civilized.

Artists please move your products from the main discussion board after two (2) weeks. Items not removed by the poster will be removed by the admin.
