Newcastle United SFC (Supporters Football Club)

In July 2007, relations between the Toon Army and the Newcastle board were at an all time low, Freddy Shepherds running of the club had become a joke, a string of questionable management appointments had left the fans baffled as to what the clubs ambitions were. Souness, Roeder, and Allardyce had all came in despite widespread disgust from the fans.

Then, something special finally happened to the club, the headlines read "Billionaire buys NUFC" the excitement around the club was massive, we expected him to be our Abramovich. Things started well, it was reported the club had been saved from the brink of administration, Ashley endeared himself to us, he sat with us in the stands, he played the part of the fans chairman superb, things got even better when the unpopular Allardyce was given the boot, and Kevin Keegan was appointed in his place. But that's where it ends!

It has to be said, the first thing to go wrong was the stepping down of Chris Moat as managing director at the end of the 07/08 season, he was instrumental in the Keegan appointment and was professional throughout his one year at the club.
Unlike his outspoken, arrogant replacement, yes, i am referring to Derek Llambias.

The next step in this farce was the appointment of Dennis "not so" Wise to oversee transfers, completely alienating Kevin Keegan, ultimately resulting in Keegan's resignation, and leaving the newly formed board with the now famous "Cockney Mafia" tag.

As we all know, things went rapidly downhill after that, the joke appointment of Joe Kinnear, Ashley's pathetic attempts to sell the club, our relegation to the championship.

All of a sudden, something seemed to click with Ashley, club was taken off the market, Chris Hughton was given time and stability, and a glorious return to the top flight ensued. Had Ashley finally realized what NUFC needed? Had the penny dropped? Of course it hadn't, just when we were all lulled into a false sense of security, bang, Hughton axed, Pardew hired.

Then came the start of the current problem, the ridiculous treating of of our top players, First Andy Carroll, shoved out the door and replaced with the Shefki Kuqi. And now the apparent disbanding of our "players Committee". Our Captain and Derby hero Kevin Nolan, humiliated by being dumped in the Championship, with Enrique almost certain to follow, and now the Joey Barton situation, with the player being told you can leave for nothing, as that is all your worth!

I for one cannot take seeing the club i have loved and supported for the last 25 years being ran this way.
And my biggest worry is that even if Ashley does the right thing and sells up, who's to say that the next board will be any better, or even worse.
My dream is a Newcastle United for the fans, ran by the fans!
Is it impossible, certainly not, you just have to look at the example set by Wimbledon, back in the football league after barely a decade of existence, and on a lesser scale FC United of Manchester, steadily climbing the lower leagues and growing year by year. The purpose of this group is simply to gauge general interest in the idea, if you dont support the idea then please do not join.
