Belize Group on Earth Observations & GIS

Belize is a founding member of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) - established at the Third Earth Observation Summit in February 2005 - as well as one of only 5 GEO members in the Caribbean and Central America. Established in June 2011, the Belize Group on Earth Observations & GIS (Belize GEO) fits within the context of initiatives like GEO by providing an online platform for the active discussion and dissemination of information related to the implementation of geospatial technologies (i.e. remote sensing and geographic information systems) in and / or related to Belize.

As an online community which provides an interface between social media, earth observations (EO), geography in general, and informatics, Belize GEO serves the following purposes:

1. To share information on relevant news, data and software related to EO / GIS in Belize,
2. To allow members to post queries regarding availability of data, information, or tools, and
3. To advance the implementation of spatial data infrastructure efforts in Belize
