Registered Non-Governmental Organisation for Young LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Assexual) in Mauritius.

YQA IS NOT A SUB-COMMITTEE OR SUB-MEMBER OF OTHER LGBT ORGANISATIONS IN MAURITIUS.


OBJECTIVES:

(a) Support, empower and protect the youth due to their Sexual Orientation, Sex and Gender concerning:
(i) Youths victims of bullying and violence
(ii) HIV/AIDS, Sexual and Reproductive Health and other specific physical and psychological health related issues
(iii)Laws and policies
(iv)Work and the Labour market
(v) Family rejection and homelessness
(vi)Juvenile Justice
(vii) Educational, training and vocational institutions
(viii) Establishing networks with other organisations

(b)Promote equal opportunities and non-discriminatory policies and practices with regards to employment, education, qualifications for a profession, trade or occupation, the provision of goods, services, facilities or accommodation, the disposal of property, companies, partnerships, sociétés, registered associations, sports, clubs and access to premises which the public may enter or use based on one’s age, caste, colour, creed, ethnic origin, impairment, marital status, place of origin, political opinion, race, sex or sexual orientation.


MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Association is open to the youth (14 - 29 years inclusive) of Mauritius. The members shall on admission pay a yearly subscription of two hundred rupees payable by the end of February in respect of the year for which it is due.
