1965 Road Cycling World Champion Tom Simpson was born in the Durham village of Haswell in 1937. He tragically died on cyclings most famous Mountain - Mont Ventoux in 1967 and has a memorial at the top of the mountain, as well as in Harworth, Nottinghamshire where he lived after moving from Haswell. Tom should also have a memorial in his birth place.
