Shotokan Karate Club at Temple University

This group is for all members and Temple students interested in learning Shotokan Karate. Shotokan is one of four Karate styles originating from Japan. It emphasizes on empty-handed combat against numerous opponents. Training consists of Kihon (basic striking and blocking), moving, Katas (patterns of blocks, strikes and moves). At the time there will be no free style sparing but we do have step sparing which emphasizes more on technique and speed. We do at times train with bags and pads to give everyone the feeling of executing the correct strike. Please come and join this exciting club. Lessons are held every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. at the IBC in the martial arts room (second floor). We welcome all Temple students and do not worry if you can only come once a week.
